Signed, parent of a DD who made it in on the first round, and has been rooting for a friend's DD, who just was accepted on appeal

Pp: you are a moron. The average kid will have a Wisc of 100 by definition. 100 is average IQ. 125 is in the 90th percentile. Oh, and an honest Wisc is more reliable than a cogat, as you can not prep for the Wisc.

I dont understand why a wisc score of 125 is better than cogat 140 and why it should overrule Gbrs 5. it shouldnt be difficult to get Wisc 125 for any average kid. This appeal process is meaningless.

The appeal process is there because letting in a few undeserving kids is cheaper than dealing with litigation.

Hell No. Appealing is legitimate standard process by the AAP Committee. WISC is the most reliable measure.
There might be a few kids got in from inflated GBRS initially, but that's ok.

No. Winning an appeal because some parent's ego is bruised doesn't mean you're as deserving as someone who got in fairly the initial time.

WISC proved GT kids are real GT kids for sure. There might be a few who got in the first round due to inflated GBRS or something, but it'll be ok.

It's ok. The kids in GT know who the real GT kids are, and which ones got in because Mommy knows how to beat the system. It will work itself out.

Data shows 90% of appeals with WISC is successful.
AAP Committee values very highly of the WISC score.
