Sure. If someone says that Walz served "nobly," I'm going to want evidence that he did something noble. Merely doing your time in the military doesn't rise to that level. No shame - often enough, your period or mode of service doesn't give you much of an opportunity to do much more than your job. But people shouldn't oversell military service as more than what it is.

Then you agree with Walz himself. He has said precisely that about his own service.

The way this race is shaping up, one ticket is about hope, joy, and the future; and the other is about grievance, anger, and the past. Walz reinforces Harris's message better than the other options.

My personal favorite was Buttigieg. (I suppose we'll see trolls saying that not choosing him was a sign of homophobia.) But at the end of the day, Walz does a great job of reinforcing the themes Harris will need to sell in order to get elected; and he seems to be a well-liked Governor, winning by 8% during the "red wave" year of 2022.

No I didn't. I did know Shapiro was problematic for a variety of reasons, not just his hard line about Gaza, but also his positions on vouchers, fracking, etc. that put him out of step with the mainstream of the Democratic Party, as well as the sexual harassment allegations against one of his staff and his office's handling of Ellen Greenberg's death when he was AG.

If you wanted to pick a Jew, you should’ve picked Bernie Sanders. That’s your fault. The progressives were all here for a Jewish president back in 2016, and the party was ready but ironically thanks to Jews it didn’t happen.

He was ahead of his time for his party but at least even Bernie was an independent who wasn’t crazy about taking guns away or importing illegal immigrants to take jobs and tax payer resources from Americans so he was more right leaning in some respects.

Tim Walz took some damage In his 20 years as an artilleryman. Multiple ear surgeries. To be fair, JD Vance took some damage as well in his four years as a correspondent. Multiple paper cuts.

Honestly, this doesn't feel like losing. Anything can happen and it's going to be a close race no matter what. But I think this was a really smart pick and I just adore this guy - the more I learn about him the more I like him.
