Neither of them are friends with nor associate with normal people. Trump lives in a gilded country club. Vance wrote a memoir about how much he despises white low and middle class voters, then moved to California to be mentored by a gay billionaire.
They are grossly out of touch, thus their messaging is falling flat. They can’t successfully pander even if they try because they don’t understand their base.
This is what I don’t understand. How does their base relate to trump / Vance at all? Is it an aspirational thing?
I read someone that trump is a poor person’s idea of a rich person. So maybe it’s that. Still, trump / Vance still = east coast elites.
