This would seem to be a pretty liberal use of the word great.Anonymous wrote:I would also like to remind people that there are a ton of great players that have not even received an offer. This is not easy. Kudos to anyone playing anywhere.

Let's get real: the Ivy League isn't just about the name; it's about access to world-class resources, unparalleled networking, and a legacy of excellence thatâs second to none.
Sure, a full-ride scholarship at a non-Ivy school is great, but itâs not exactly the same league, is it? An Ivy League degree is an investment in a future brimming with opportunities that simply canât be matched elsewhere. From elite internships to connections with industry leaders, the benefits are endless.
And about the so-called debt. Many Ivy League students receive substantial financial aid, making their education surprisingly affordable. Besides, the earning potential and career trajectory post-Ivy often dwarf any initial costs.
So while it's endearing that some think avoiding debt is the ultimate goal, those of us with an Ivy education understand that we're playing a much more sophisticated game. Kudos to all parents with players stepping up to the next level, even if some might not fully appreciate or understand the value of an Ivy league education. IYKYK
this is response is why people hate on it so much - and that is coming from a parent that would have been thrilled with an Ivy opportunity for my daughter - such a shame that you read all of this as Ivy hate and then make such elitist statements
^100%.Give it a rest Harvard booster mom. If only you had a modicum of self awareness youâd not make statements like this.
Let's put an end to the constant bashing of Ivy League schools. It's becoming transparent and, frankly, a bit pathetic. Instead of tearing down others or insinuating that itâs certain parents with kids going to Ivy Leagues who are commenting, letâs focus on celebrating everyoneâs achievements. I doubt any of those parents are on this board.
Leave these Ivy League families alone to enjoy their accomplishments. We should be rooting for each other rather than making parents/players feel they need to defend themselves against ridiculous comments. It's clear that there are parents from all over the DMV here, not just from the capital, and itâs likely that many of the negative comments come from trolls or even high school kids trying to stir the pot. Usually, it's parents from other clubs stirring the pot and crazy lax dads.
Itâs genuinely sad to see such insecurity play out, and it wouldn't be surprising if some of these critics are just upset because their own kids didn't get into Yale, Harvard or Princeton. Let's shift the conversation to one of support and celebration instead!
Not sure where you are seeing bashing of the Ivys....the bashing is of the tone of the messages...this one has the same tone
Then you are new to this forum.
I donât see Ivy bashing. I see people (including Ivy league grads) pointing out that the Ivies reputation have rightfully taken a hit b/c some of them have unfortunately becoming extremely woke anti-semitic cesspools that cost $350k which gives some people pause. It doesnât mean the Ivies wonât still continue to provide phenomenal networking benefits, but itâs not 1990 or 2000 anymore either
This. Why should I spend $400K for my kids to be exposed to idiots funded by Iran who will hate them just for their heritage.
You must be a MAGAt. Itâs been interesting to watch the Christian nationalist extremists take advantage of Trumpâs love of the uneducated (bc they canât discern between his lies/propaganda and the truth/reality) to attack elite educational institutions that could teach kids to think for themselves and question Christian dogma. When the corrupt billionaire Republican donors recognized the opportunity to make more money thru investing in charter schools and for-profit universities, the anti-education platform of MAGA was solidified.
Of course itâs been particularly focused on the Ivies as precisely the type of school that scare both of these types the most. They donât want anyone capable of thoughtful, deep critical thinking and writing skills around to counter the anti-American, pro-Christian extremists narrative especially if their kids can no longer get into these schools.
Unfortunately the recent disgusting pro-Hamas protests occurred at the perfect time for MAGAts to use in their anti-education movementâs propaganda. To see folks on DCUM spouting this bs is really something.
