Jen Hatmaker is getting candid about her divorce in a new memoir.
The New York Times bestselling author, podcaster and influencer is focusing the lens inward in her upcoming memoir, entitled Awake, set to be published in September. Her story will address her 26 years of marriage and its downfall, social media's role in her life and her "messy and magical midlife rebirth."

Hatmaker's memoir begins in the middle of a July night in 2020, when she awoke to her husband in their bed, calling another woman.
"In the months that followed, she went from being a shiny, funny, popular leader, to a divorced wreck on antidepressants and anti-anxiety meds parenting five kids alone with no clue about her own bank accounts," reads the book's official synopsis. "Having led millions of women for over a decade ā urging them to embrace authenticity, find radical agency and create healthy relationships ā this seemed nothing less than total failure."

Awake spans the course of 40 years, including moments from Hatmaker's childhood, relationship and parenthood.
The memoir candidly demystifies the "disorienting upheaval" of middle age ā including marriage, religion, culture and the grief that occurs when any (or all) of them change.

"Drawing on all her resources ā from without and from within ā Jen dares to question the systems beneath the whole house of cards, and to reckon with the myths, half-truths and lies that brought her to this point," the synopsis adds.

I have followed Jen for years and love everything about her. I, too, went through a public divorce with my pastor husband of 35, and a challenge of my faith. I lost my whole group of friends from our church. and my purpose and calling. A friend and I went on her cruise last year. Sheās genuine in all she says and does. I love her candidness in how she survived and in her parenting, friendships, family, and new love. I canāt wait to read her memoir!!

I am SO excited! I've seen Jen live 2x and while our paths do not carry the same "story" her awakening and gift of affirming others has been one of the strongest pillars in my own life of motherhood, faith upheaval and honoring the gift of each day. Thank you Jen! SO SO excited for this!

I used to love Jen and have followed her over the last decade. In the last year, she has become all about peddling crap to her followers (gummies, vitamins, clothes, purses, etc), so I finally unfollowed her.

Everyone has to make a living. It is quicker to scroll through things you aren't interested in than to make a post complaining about it.
