It is incredibly bad news for schools. Takis is density density density and doesn’t give 2 sh**ts about schools. Arlington Democratic Party has screwed us again.

Bickering about school board candidates is pointless when the county board consists of people who believe school spending should be deprioritized. Were at a point where significant, significant money needs to be invested to have any hope of avoiding really serious issues by the time my elementary kids get to high school. It doesn’t matter who is on the school board if they can’t get the resources to deal with it.

The COVID-19 crisis has slowed completion of the Arlington Career Center expansion project concept design phase. Additionally, the initial cost estimates prepared based on the materials presented to the committees during the February 19 and 26, 2020 meetings exceeded the funding approved in the FY2019-28 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). The design team and cost estimators have spent the last few weeks pursuing revisions with an aim to reduce costs while maintaining essential aspects of the project. The resulting revisions are currently being finalized and are scheduled to be presented to the School Board as an information item at the May 21, 2020 meeting. The revised design is largely consistent with the initial concept presented to the committees and sought to reduce the required excavation, simplify design and phasing, review portions of the program that could be constructed in a later phase, and explore alternative locations on the site for a future aquatics facility.

The COVID-19 crisis has also impacted our planned summer 2020 construction to accommodate enrollment growth of Arlington Tech for the 2020-21 school year.

+1 I believe Terron was previously a member of the budget advisory council. Cristina has been on it for a few years and is also on either the JFAC or the fiscal affairs commission. From what Steven has said during past debates, he seems to entirely misunderstand the process.
