They spoofed him to point out how ignorant he was about verification. He had to be shown that paying $7.99 for a blue check was not a substitute for the necessity of verifying that the person isn’t an imposter. He was so desperate for those $7.99 payments he was blind to the purpose and need for verification. Everybody told him but he was too stupid to listen, so they had to show him.
the $8 is not about who’s more important, which is why journalists and celebrities covet it. It’s about leveling the playing field. One thing leftist journalists hate is not being considered part of the elite.
That $8 is a lot of money for people in some parts of the world who live in dangerous, oppressive, authoritarian, conservative societies that they are critics of. And are going to be targeted by malicious actors who want to silence their criticism.
