Someone who cannot swim would be less likely to go in water.

this group of young people were at a party in the lobby that night, right? Do US LE review footage of inside resort or is it in jurisdiction of DR?

Why are you having to point out her ethnicity? Is there any other girl in the story?

Because a lot of foreign born Asians don't know how to swim. Swimming is not part of Asian schooling curriculum like it is in VA public schools.
My Asian roommate in grad school could not swim, ride a bike or drive. Those are considered essential life skills here, but not in Asia. Some parents might teach their kids but more likely, the kid masters them on their own.

Swimming is not part of VA public school curriculum. That is entirely on the family to teach.

- signed a VA public school grad with two VA public school teenagers.

Swimming has NOTHING to do with this BUT you are wrong. Our NOVA schools systems have swimming in elementary school and high school.

They certainly do but. I teach in the school system. You’re a troll.

It's predominantly one YOU pp who must be part of the family community in some way but absolutely refuses to accept this "logical" explanation, even as a possibility. It's beyond comprehension to her that the victim here may have made some unwise decisions (or that she drank alcohol or may have been drunk). So she continuously attempts to divert the thread with conspiracy theories, mostly naming and pointing to the guy. The other group are true crime junkies.

Investigators have named him a POI. Why are you so hysterically trying to obfuscate that fact?

Investigators clearly stated today (Thursday) that a POI is an American term, not a DR term. They said NO ONE is being looked at criminally.

US LE is also involved.

Friends and family just want to make sense of this. Its human nature to want to assign blame, as unreasonable as it is.

Was his shirt torn? How did he get the scratches? Did his missing shirt or shoes have blood on them?

His whole town is the size of a large HS. People who know him will know if he is an angry drunk, disrespects girls or is some gentle giant type.

Typical DCUM, always looking to blame the man, to the point of trying to see if he was an "angry drunk".

The beach and waves there were treacherous. It was 4am and dark. She was drunk. Perhaps she... drowned in such dangerous conditions?

Disgusting to imply this man did anything to her. Everyone in this situation used bad judgement.

He has been named a POI by LE, loon.

You don't know what POI means, then.

What?? How can someone not know how to swim?

That seems like a very racist generalization against Asians.

The man last seen with a missing woman is always a key suspect and often her killer. Our only proof she went in the water is his, and he changed his story several times.

Authorities this morning said they are not looking at this case as a criminal matter.

They are holding the guy’s passport and he’s being monitored in a hotel room by LE. Word games.

POI just means that he has information relevant to the case, as the last known person with her. It does not mean he's a suspect.

+1. As is in most cases where someone was the last to see of a missing person.

Don't give up your day job. No one has put any conspiracy theories if you read most of these posts. Nor has only one poster pointed to the guy. He is just one of a few possiblities to what may have happened. People have asked what about her friends too. Did they do something foul leading up to the early morning? Do YOU know?

Yep. We swam at night completely trashed at Panama City Beach in 1998. My friend left "Club La Vela" (tagline "Party with Thousands!") completely wasted with an equally wasted guy..to ride without a helmet on his motorcycle. They hooked up at his trailer and she showed up after noon the next day. People do incredibly stupid stuff drunk on spring break.

And others went on alternative spring breaks. the spring break you and several posters have written here is not the only type of spring break experiences of college students et al

Different poster here
Sure, not all college students do the drunk partying spring break thing. But THIS college student and her friends obviously DID. That's all that's relevant here.
