Total BS. In the red states, women marry and reproduce young and live a poor life. Red states = pootr states, supported by the federal budget. In the blue states, women have careers and have babies late, so they do blood work/CVS/amnio and if things don't look good, they can have an abortion whenever.

Who’s out there hemming and hawing about getting an abortion for 15, 20, 25 weeks? Waiting for a payout or an engagement? Sounds like drama.

Sounds like dire fetal anomalies and other unexpected pregnancy complications that arise later in pregnancy.

What are the health, genetic and amnio carve outs here? Many already exist.

I have two different friends who terminated after week 16 for Down syndrome after amnio results. Neither had a bad nuchal. T21 is compatible with life, but a terrible life from my point of view for everyone involved and not something one should ever be forced into. I also know someone who terminated in the 22nd week in NYC for spina bifida - the baby might have been viable, I think the chances were around 50-50%, but even so their life would have been pretty horrendous (baby and parents). All of these families were devastated and did not make the decision lightly. I know that in their shoes, I would have made the same choice. Who is the government to tell us that we cannot?! Everyone should be free to decide. There are 8 billion of us and let's face it, a 6-, 10- or even a 20-week embryo/fetus is not that special, especially when it isn't yours.

If I found myself pregnant with a baby I did not want, I would borrow on my credit card if I had to or use a hanger, but there is no way I would proceed with a pregnancy I did not want. Fortunately I am past childbearing years, and luckily our daughters have dual citizenship with a modern country that offers easy and nearly free abortions to everyone who needs them. Women in the poor red states better think twice when they vote or move to a better state.
