I do think my voting for Youngkin will be worth it to me and my family. I am hoping that FCPS will bend to the pressure sooner rather than later. We shall see. FWIW, I care mostly about protecting the environment in meaningful ways, enacting strict gun control, and balancing the budget. Not like the Democrats are getting any of that done for me.

Um, no. I voted for Youngkin because of the mask mandate and threat of virtual school. I was just saying that the VA Demoncrats do not consider my priorities to be their priorities at the moment, so 4 years of Ypungkin will likely not be much different than McAuliffe in that regard.

And VA requires a balanced budget so not sure why that’s relevant. Federally, Ds do a better job at balancing the budget.

NP here. My reluctant vote for Youngkin was based on a lot more than masks. It was the fact the my kid missed the last 1/4 of K and 3/4 of 1st grade. It was the democratic party's and national teachers union's insistence that virtual learning was learning and that they were fully justified in shutting down schools. It was the refusal to admit that the school shutdowns were a massive mistake, despite all evidence to the contrary, and it was the complete lack of urgency to do anything to address the learning loss that occurred over the past two years. And on top of that, if you complained about any of this, you were accused of being a Karen, racist, or "throwing tantrums." Dem are going to lose the suburbs in the coming midterms. And schools will be a very big reason.
