How do you have tryouts if you don't have a team or a coach....
The strangest thing is that the tryouts were for ages 2010-2012 boys on Wed are literally at the same time as their 2011-2012 team practice in Loudoun County. So the kids on the actual team in that age range won't be at the tryout,
Won't they cancel practice?

2013 team seems like a gap with a combined 2013/2014 team now in NCSL division 3

1. Not surprised practices have more space. team counts were decimated. What was 2-3 teams per age group is now 1. Maybe next year they recover?
2. Rec. how has that program gone? That is the determinant of field space. When I’ve been to Hanson, the fields previously used for rec (3&4) have been pretty empty. Maybe they’re at Heron?
As a previous poster indicated the GA teams practiced on grass (field 3), then moved to turf (field 1). There was one practice at Potomack Lakes late in the season as well as a home game.
I can't speak for every age group, but the alleged 3-4 teams on a single field wasn't true for this current season. We carried 15-16 players all season on our team. So at most we had 30 players sharing a field across two GA age groups. It was customary to have two teams practice on each half of a single field and then combine for a scrimmage to end the practice. That seems like a totally reasonable set up to me. Goalkeepers were pulled over to their own field space for keeper practices.
I can share that what they told us after tryouts for next season that the practices would essentially be the same set up this coming season (in terms of general location). There was one additional field that was mentioned as a possibility, but since it wasn't finalized I am not going to mention it here since it isn't my news to share.
For parents considering TSJFC, don't read too much into the criticisms on this board. All clubs have their pros and cons, as does TSJFC. But the drum beat by many posters around lack of fields and small rosters is just not accurate. The club is clearly having to rebuild because of the recent history of clubs splitting and combining across NOVA, but that is true for many others.
