That would be socialism. If you don't like the cost of gas, then complain to the oil companies, who have been reporting record profits the last 8 reporting quarters.
Oh, that’s right, who smacked down the attempted response to stop the oil companies price gouging… the GOP! They like the profits they’re making and the party they own isn’t going to be allowed to do anything to affect prices.
There is no such thing as price gouging. Supply and demand. They can charge whatever they want. You can buy it or not.
Biden attacked oil discovery, permitting, leases, refining, transport and everything in between with bureaucracy. He did this to give an edge to alternative forms of energy. As I stated before, he's an ideologue. Biden is a believer not a thinker, just like George W Bush. He's a danger to the well being of the US in a competitive global economy.
STRONG disagree.
You can charge whatever you want for luxuries and non-essentials, but when it's basic goods and services that everyone needs and depends on, it's GOUGING.
Also, for all of the supposed "attacking" that you insist Biden did, US domestic oil and gas production are at all-time highs.
No it is not gouging.
You are NOT OWED anything.

Greatly tighten fiscal oversight and accountability in DOD/IC. Crack down on medicare fraud.
Negotiate better deals for pharma and healthcare via Medicare, VA, federal blue cross and other providers, and publish the negotiated rates so that other private sector insurers can demand the same.
Things like that will get us trillions and significantly reduce, if not completely balance the budget.
My lazy question for this thread is does anyone know what the demands are from repubs to raise the debt ceiling? I know it’s been a shifting situation where they change demands.
I haven’t done a deep dive into what they are asking for now. Is the main one that they want to rescind the IRS $80bn?
I know Google is my friend, but wondering if someone can offer a quick synopsis. Thank you.
It also depends on what you mean by Republicans. Eventually McConnell will cut a deal because he doesn't want to cut spending much, his donors need to get their money's worth.
McConnell? You mean McCarthy?
Mitch likes to play failure theater. We'd do what you conservatives want, we just don't have enough votes, and that number changes from 41 to 50 to 51 to 60.
Previous debt ceiling showdown had something about a commission to cut spending and a sequester, with generally higher spending.
We will end up with maybe some cuts, but nothing of substance, while pretending something happened.
Then again McCarthy is only asking for a cut to 1% above 2022 spending levels, which isn't much of a cut.
I don't see House GOP taking their orders from McConnell.
DP, but the final deal is going to be whatever can pass the Senate with the support of almost all Democrats and at least 20 Republicans. That would get enough Democratic votes in the House because at least half of House Republicans will burn it all down before they support anything the Senate would pass and Biden would sign.

It is, actually.
DP. Only in your bubble.
I just posted the Mammouth poll. 75% of Americans disagree with the GOP tactics.
Duly noted.
CNN: Six in ten say cut spending with debt limit raise.
Now what?
CNN? So John Malone says six in ten right?

It is easy to record profits when the President keeps your competitors from drilling for oil.
