Happy 2025! My word of the year is UM. It was a hard choice - boop and stress-cry were in the top three but Um gives ya girl tonsies of flexibility.

I can post about dry-ish January, giant bougie ice cubes and seltzers, seltzers, seltzers and THE DEAREST glassware from Anthro-apology but when I get the urge to belly up to a big girl tumbler of Black Box's finest chardonnay (link to my Tervis in stories) I can just say UM and switch things up. Dry-ish and dry aren't the same thing, my beleagureds. The Um is freeing and a little tipple makes my Instagram author interview videos and podcasts that much more endearing, and sometimes easier for me to get through without sobbing and rage-scrolling Texas Skipper's Instagram feed. 

TREVOR AND I spent NYE apart, me with my annoying roomies and him with his "friend group" in another state. But we are so totally still together because TREVOR AND I hosted Thanksgiving dinner at my house in BEWDA, lest you forget. #AsIf

He ate two plates of mashed potatoes and a tiny bit of my "white lady stuffing" because he's a VEGETARIAN. I workshop recipes for him ALL THE TIME but when it comes to Thanksgiving, I'm a purist and the MEATS are the star of the show. After moi, of course. #MainCharacterEnergy 

I'm super excited for our February JANE CAPSTICHER BOOKAPALOOZASHEBANGBANG selection, which is - tee hee - Trevor's new book about being black and other things we don't talk about. Unless you are Trevor, then you are talking about them 24/7 but you know. All seven of us, including TREVOR AND I are going to have some off the HOOK discussions about Trevor and Trevor's feelings about racism, white privilege, and janky bottom-of-the-purse butterscotch candy. He says it will be DOPE.

My best friend since college and maid of honor in my upcoming wedding took me out to a very nice expensive dinner and told me she thought I should marry him. I absolutely heard every word she said, and still married him with her standing next to me.

Ten years later when we divorced (friendly b/c we finally realized we just should not have moved beyond friends), she took me out every weekend I did not have my beautiful daughter …… and never once said “I told you so” or brought up our conversation.

She did say that my second husband is everything she could have hoped for for me, so that was nice

Her friendships have always seemed very superficial to me but everything on social media is so manufactured anyway so it's hard to tell.

I wonder if someone gave an honest opinion on Tyler. If it's so obvious to people who don't know her, surely those close to her and see her when the cameras aren't rolling can see that he's not committed to her and not respectful to her. I'm not sure if I would tell a good friend "Hey, your guy sucks" if I weren't asked but maybe it's come out with all the holidays alone and whatknot.

It didn't seem like he fit in with the group in Iceland and I'm not saying that because he's black, at least I don't think so. I wonder if that caused distance between her and that friend group.

I’m the same age as Jen. Knew her one time and bought her books. 7, For The Love.

Sort of acquaintances with many friends in common.

Maybe I’m older now but I see her posts and it’s so so cringe.

Did I react this way a decade ago?

I am in agony for her, to be honest.

Kids home from college making a mess, etc. We don't post about our adult "kids" anymore because its private and unfair. Who wants to google their potential partner and their mom publicly posted they were a slob?
