I do. I know a family who flew to Mexico, 1 who went to Colorado and one to Wyoming. None of them drove. I have the means to travel. But I’m not a selfish ahole.

Many of our friends traveling. Some flew. Even some hard-core Ds.

Most seemed to wear masks and try to be safe. Measured risks.

It's time to be realistic. We've waited this out nearly 300 days at this point. COVID is not disappearing, we now know how to live with it in a way that is safer than where we were in March. Enough now.

No, they just weighed the risks and made a decision. We're not in school so it really doesn't matter. Had we been in school I bet a lot of families would have made a different decision. I know we would not have traveled. We're not, so we did.

Do these “covid deniers” of whom you speak deny the existence of covid? Or do they believe that the weight of the evidence indicates that schools may reopen for in person instruction with proper safety instruction?

Cases have risen here but not exponentially the way they have in other places.

What's frustrating is that we stretched our budget to live in Arlington due to the public school system.

I wish we could afford to send our kids to private, but we can't. I can understand the need for DL right now, but it's so poorly executed at the elementary level, it's just not working.

APS needs to find a way to significantly improve DL or figure out how to get elementary kids safely back in class asap.

doesn't give you a lot of cred when you say schools are safe, kids are safer at school. Maybe yours are safer at school as opposed to your own poor choices. Me, I'm following public health guidance so mine are not safer at school, especially bc they will be exposed to yours.

There is inherent risk unless you absolutely stay home with zero interaction. I have to imagine you are getting groceries, etc. If you're not, then fine.

At this point it's about the ability to make decisions that maximize safety even in the face of risk. We have not had COVID to date--not because we are unable to make safe decisions, but, because we are calculating every decision and weighing the risk vs. the possibility of staying safe using masks, distancing, etc etc even in light of that risk. If you are unable to contemplate those decisions for your family and children, that's fine. Stay home.
