The existing law requires back pay so the CR would have to reverse that. I doubt any dem would vote for it if it did.
I keep hearing this but is it true? My understanding is the current CR gives Vought and Trump the power to reallocate spending as they see fit. So why would they need a new CR. Isn’t the whole idea to challenge impoundment and given the administration the ability to ignore the spending allocated by Congress?

I haven't reviewed the latest play book.

Speaker Johnson talked about it today. We live in an authoritarian and lawless government now, so CR's and what not are quaint.
Vought is saying won't uphold the back pay laws passed by Congress, and disgustingly Johnson is fine with that.
Thune, Tillis and other R’s in the senate have already said they won’t back this. Johnson and Vought can crow all they want but there’s no way even their own party will go for this. Now dear leader is back to saying layoffs in 4-5 days.

They're already starting to talk about how to extend the ACA subsidies. I think it'll be over by mid-next week.

I flew into Dulles around the time of the shift change of the TSA workers and they were discussing where to go for a hot meal at a soup kitchen since they're not getting paid. Disgraceful America--to treat its employees this way.
Aren’t all federal employees going to get paid around mid October for the pay period that ended just before the shutdown?
Yeah. Nobody has missed a paycheck yet. The TSA probably is demoralized, and they may be concerned that they need to hold onto that next paycheck for expenses when the one following is missed. Maybe some also get SNAP? But talk of soup kitchens at this point is probably gallows humor.
SNAP? What’s that?
Another program that lost funding because of republican hatefulness

So to recap, Democrats weaponized the TSA to harass Tulsi Gabbard and Republican Congressmen and we just learned the FBI was spying on eight Republican senators… but something something Trump is an authoritarian?
