My guess --- and it is a guess -- not reports or other information --- is that the ACC makes the offer Thursday.
Stanford pretending they have options is cute
They do. Independent. Not a long term fix but buys them a couple/few years.
They could do an ND and go ind. for football and ACC for all other sports.

This would destroy Stanford's other sports. Too much mid-week long-distance travel.
Becoming an independent for a year may be the better option for Stanford. The ACC would require a long-term commitment for a short-term relationship due to the extensive travel demands.

Recent quote from Stanford football coach Troy Taylor on the potential switch to the ACC and the 2,000 plus mile distance between Stanford University on ACC schools:
"People used to have to come across country in a covered wagon--it would take them months and they'd be completely different people by the time they got there. We get on a plane for five hours, six hours that's not the end of the world. You get drinks served to you and some snacks and it's not bad."
