Accountable for what?
It's a defense mechanism by those with hurt egos who now feel the need to project their feelings of powerlessness onto teachers. The tip line is a consolation prize.
Oh so is this different that AG garland's federal bureau of incompetence tagging parents who speak out against school boards? essentially putting a tipper in the fbi system that these parents are troublemakers?
<ok go ahead and tell me it is different, in your detached-from-reality logic...I cant wait>
Are you being serious? One is a tip line to report CRT in the classroom and the other is a tip line to report threats of violence against public servants. Regardless of politics those are serving two very different purposes.
You fell right into my trap - the "tip line" for reporting threats is 911. That is how you report threats. Your local police will answer.
The Federal Bureau of Incompetence has no business being involved in local disputes.
But let's play this out - do you believe that only threats were reported to Merrick and his Merry Band of Morons? Or do you think that local dems reported parents who do not subscribe to the whims of the teachers, school board, and superintendent?
And let's back up even further - why did the FBI start "tagging these parents in the system" (FBI's words, not mine)? They did so because the School bored association, which was too bored with keeping parents in the corner, decided to request the FBI monitor parents who speak out.
So Yes, Im being very serious - I've been very serious for over two years now. Hopefully you'll get there someday.
*footnote: in case you do not understand what the FBI means when they tag parents in the system - it means you are now part of FBI as disagreeing with the Government. For parents who make threats, the FBI should refer this to the local police and the police should prosecute. For all others, well....remember McCarthyism? Remember the Civil Rights Movement? Same same same.
Using the same logic, Youngkin's tip line is achieving the same goal of curating a list of public servants whose teaching materials are at odds with the state government's idea of what should and shouldn't be in public schools.
Anyway, one of the intents and purposes of the FBI is to be in the business of domestic counter-terrorism, and threats of violence to intimidate public servants indeed falls into the category of threatening acts of terrorism. It still applies even to local county governments. Is there potential for baseless reports? Sure, but I trust the FBI would toss those out and not "tag" someone if it isn't warranted. I don't subscribe to a conspiracy theory that the FBI is keeping a list of outspoken parents if they aren't valid and real violent threats.

To the contrary, it's about accountability and good governance, both of which are anathema to those teachers who want total autonomy and zero accountability. The lack of accountability had been their consolation prize for mediocre pay, and now they're sulking because it's being taken away.
So here's my genuine question--What happens after you send in your tip? Let's say that you, a parent of a high school student, email the tip line to report that your child was told in history class something that you interpret to be CRT. What is the next step? Who reads that email? What do they do with that information? Who do they report it to? What is the outcome? I feel like without those answers, the whole thing is just theater designed to make parents feel empowered but not much more.

I’d like to know what Republicans in Virginia have actually advocated for book burnings, as opposed to the removal of certain explicit books from public school libraries where they might be available to 12-year-olds.
I will not vote for book burners, but it’s ironic that Democrats would try to exaggerate censorship by Republicans when the far left has been doing much more to promote cancel culture and suppress free speech, with 62% of Americans now reporting they are reluctant to express their views publicly for fear of retribution.
Literally 30 seconds of googling to find your answer: https://www.businessinsider.com/virginia-school-board-members-call-for-books-to-be-burned-2021-11
"Courtland representative Rabih Abuismail and Livingston representative Kirk Twigg both championed burning the books that have been removed.
"I think we should throw those books in a fire," Abuismail said. Meanwhile, Twigg said he wanted to "see the books before we burn them so we can identify within our community that we are eradicating this bad stuff."
Um, Spotsylvania? OK. Don't live there and not relevant to the lame performance of Democrats on the FCPS School Board. But thanks for playing.
You didn’t ask about Fairfax, you asked about Virginia. Spotsylvania is in Virginia.
