Using the same logic, Youngkin's tip line is achieving the same goal of curating a list of public servants whose teaching materials are at odds with the state government's idea of what should and shouldn't be in public schools.

Anyway, one of the intents and purposes of the FBI is to be in the business of domestic counter-terrorism, and threats of violence to intimidate public servants indeed falls into the category of threatening acts of terrorism. It still applies even to local county governments. Is there potential for baseless reports? Sure, but I trust the FBI would toss those out and not "tag" someone if it isn't warranted. I don't subscribe to a conspiracy theory that the FBI is keeping a list of outspoken parents if they aren't valid and real violent threats.

You still don't get it. Youngkin is state, FBI and DoJ are Federal - keep the Feds out of our schools. Period.

Now you can decide what bothers you more - government encouraging people to provide tips on teachers who are teaching inappropriate material or government encouraging people to provide tips on parents who dare to criticize elected officials - and vote accordingly in future elections.

Accountable for allowing soft-po$n in our school libraries, for not making public the number of violent or Se#ual assaults in our schools, for telling kids that they are either oppressors or oppressed based on the color of their skin, for not getting our kids back in school for 1.5 years, for renewing brabrand's contract until 2022, for caving to teachers unions, for trying to co-parent when they should just teach, for focusing on changing school names and dumbing down TJ instead of getting kids back in school, for failed boundary changes, for a school board member setting a bad example for our kids when the police ask her why she was parked illegally, for privately texting each other that the changes at TJ were about race but not admitting that publicly, for pushing a mask mandate that should be rescinded, for claiming to follow CDC guidance - but in reality just following some of it, for their hypocrisy, their progressive policies, for their blatant efforts to divide us based on color.

Maybe you are ok with all the above, or just some of it. The rest of us are tired of pleading with the school board and we welcome a tip line. Even if nothing changes, at least someone is actually listening....

You have to have someone to screen the complaints. The majority are petty grievances (in this context, it might be complaints about teachers who don't let kids retake tests, or seem to have "teacher's pets," or wear clothing that a parent thinks is inappropriate, or the like) and are not investigated.

Then you have other complaints that appear to raise legitimate concerns, or may be evidenced through multiple complaints (say, what appear to be 5-10 different parents complaining that a particular teacher is telling kids that all White Americans should be ashamed of their ancestors, or that Asian Americans have never faced "real" discrimination, or that a school administration is organizing events that only students of certain races or ethnicities are allowed to attend). Those types of complaints are more likely to be investigated or brought to the attention of school officials, with the expectation that there will be an investigation, along with a determination as to whether the alleged misconduct was substantiated and, if so, what remedial actions have been taken. Potentially, in an egregious case, the VDOE might investigate directly and take action to terminate a teacher's state license.

To some degree, these complaints already occasionally get lodged at the local level. Youngkin's program just provides another way to raise such concerns with state government instead. The only reason why someone really would be upset is if they thought state government would take them more seriously than local school systems that have a tendency to always circle the wagons (resulting, unfortunately, in greater liability for the local systems in some instances).
