Obviously I have no way of knowing what the rest of the family did or didn’t do in response to that. And obviously I have no idea how Meghan herself felt. As a Black woman who has spent a lot of time in majority white spaces, I DO think that this welcome-to-the-family gesture is one that might be both painful and difficult to dismiss.

Nope. She lives in Kensington Palace. She is not an embarrassing family member they've cast out and that Meghan wouldn't actually see.
