I don’t think it has to do with being anxious. If anyone has the ability to not potentially contribute to spreading this virus, I don’t see why they wouldn’t do so.

Sure, but I guess that would be in the calculus for ANYONE considering non-essential travel right now and so far there's not really guidance on not traveling domestically - even though I know what you're saying. This is elective travel but it's also potentially the last time I'll see my family for a while before I can't fly in my third trimester & with newborn (all are a plane flight away), especially if things change in the next few months and none of them can travel to me as planned for baby-related things.

I guess I'm wondering if you were pregnant, would that factor into your decision differently regarding your personal risk, regardless of whether or not you generally think it's a good idea for people to stop traveling for non-essential reasons to help prevent this spreading in general?

I hear you- I am supposed to travel to my hometown next week (also not a hotbed at the moment) for an event that is really important to my sister. Not pregnant but otherwise similar circumstances. I guess I'm most concerned about contributing to the spread than for myself, but everyone there seems unfazed by the whole thing and are continuing with their spring break plans. My parents both work with the public as part of their jobs so it's far more likely they will eventually be exposed that way than from me. So it probably really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things whether I go, other than it will cause family drama if I don't.

Flew cross country last night. There were about 10 of us on the flight. If you have to fly -- now is the time! Social distancing at its best.

Yeah, honestly PP (who is going to pick up her kid from college), I say this with genuine concern... I think you might need to talk to someone. It is reasonable to be concerned and practice precaution, but what you are demonstrating is not reasonable. You shouldn't have to be in such a state of panic so I hope that you are able to find comfort somehow, whether through talking to a doctor for a prescription or self-isolating somewhere.

Have you actually looked at the guidance on the website? The advice on travel still depend on several factors- the destination, your age and overall health. Nothing on there would send me into the tailspin of hysteria like you seem to be in.
