Dementia can describe a wide spectrum of mental unfitness. As someone who has been around a long time and has known many 80 year old people, I can tell you with 100% certainty that 80 year old people should NOT be trusted with a four year term at the most demanding and powerful job in the world. You all know this. Start acting like it.
