When I read that fb exchange, it made me think he was in the anger stage of grief, focused on her refusal to get vaccinated.
I doubt he'd react that way if he agreed with her vaccine stance, and it might have been a point of contention between them.

Nobody is downplaying the virus. Many of us simply believe that the choice to get a vaccine should be just that - a choice. We are against mandates. Not vaccines.

There have been people downplaying the threat posed by the virus all along. There have been people downplaying the vaccines’ efficacy at saving lives.
Personal health is about personal choices. Public health shouldn’t be. No one should be forcibly vaccinated, but vaccines should be required for high risk public gatherings where social distancing isn’t possible. Your only personal choice should be whether you’d prefer to get vaccinated or skip these events.

I don’t know about those who have listened to her, specifically, but if you read the Herman Cain Awards, they do offer “redemption” awards for people who did come to their senses and get vaccinated.

There are two possibilities here. On one hand, you are willfully ignorant and your basis for saying this is politically motivated. There are reams of evidence of Republicans downplaying the virus. Reams. You can start by perusing the previous 71 pages of this very thread.
If, on the other hand, you are sincere in your belief that nobody is downplaying the virus, congratulations on emerging from underneath your rock. You've missed a lot in the past 20 months!
