I would assume that many Bethesda players, both boys and girls, attend private school. That would need to be taken into account in terms of Ivy League admissions.

Not sure what reality you are talking about...that's just Bethesda. Your scholarship percentage is wrong as well. I saw 2 or 3 big time commits from McLean last week as well. VDA has quite a few. There are a bunch of very good girls in the DMV across all of these clubs.

They are talking about class of ‘24 who was one of the good Bethesda teams. No ‘25s have committed to any school as of yet.

Class of ‘23 had two P5 commits and not many mid majors.

Safe to say they have a decent recruiting class every other year from here out.

No one hear seems to mention what it takes to do D1 soccer. It's 60-80 hours a week for soccer and school. It's almost year round. that's crazy. Just because some girls choose not to do D1 doesn't mean they couldn't. They want a life in college. So many kids drop soccer after the first few months. College soccer is not great and there's really no future after it. So stop worrying about what other girls are doing.

Loads of players leaving and now we are bio-banding for MLSNext teams and the kids coming down are HUGE. Derek’s explanation “the rules are loose and this my club”

I would think this would open the club, and the league, up to some serious liability. At these ages and levels, the game is fast and physical. If my undersized player, playing on age, was seriously injured by an older, large-for-his-age player "playing down," I would absolutely try to hold Bethesda and the league to account. This is not a risk I assume according to league rules, and is reckless behavior on the part of the club, more likely than not to lead to injury. And, per the rule, the league reviews the application of the player to determine if they are "late developers." I hope this isn't true.

Here's the rule from MLS Next. It allows for each team to play 3 over-age players. The idea is to allow smaller/late developing players compete with kids similar in size and not get injured or dissuaded from playing while their body catches up. To use it for big players that just weren't technically able to play on age, or to give an advantage over other teams effing sucks.

Late Developers (L):

Three (3) Late Developers per team - Late Developers can only be Primary Players
All age groups are eligible
Must complete Late Developer forms and receive approval from MLS NEXT

This is very true on the girls side. The thing I did not understand was how bad or an after thought women college soccer was/is. You would think a big name D1 school would easily have a really strong women soccer team. Coaches going out and turning the country upside down for talented girls to recruit. Not the case.
There are maybe 3-8 teams that can win the NCAA in a given year. These teams really do not change much year to year. They really do not recruit. They have a pipeline national team selections or national camps players to pick from. It’s a very small incestuous group of coaches and US soccer staff that keep things the same.
The rest of the programs are kind of just there. There is no pressure from the school to win, there is very limited money for the coach to go on recruiting trips, the coaches tend to recruit the same type of players from the same areas, etc. So when you look at schools look at the facilities, athletic training plans and staffing level. These vary greatly between schools. Also the coaches overall record.

I was referring to the girls side. The boys side is treated much differently at Bethesda.

bethesda has at least 4 power 5 and mulitple ivy's and a bunch of mid majors...didn't mention these other clubs.

Don't know the girls situation, but on the boys side, Bethesda had a player at every single Ivy League school last year. They are only missing one Ivy school (Dartmouth) this year. But, they have two boys on Princeton, four at Georgetown, two at Duke, one at Stanford, etc. Some of these kids played on the second team for boys at Bethesda but are contributors on major college rosters. Again, don't know girls so well, but the boys' record of sending kids to great universities is unmatched by any club in the U.S.
