There is. It is called the NCAA Division I lacrosse championship. No need for high school kids to lose more school time to such a tournament. High school sports should be about local and regional bragging rights. There have always been arguments about whether team A in Upstate NY would beat team B in Baltimore. Part of the fun.

lol.....+1000. Leave it to the nutty lax booster dads to take HS sports to the extreme because HS is all about athletics, right? Get a little perspective FFS.

I have no assosication with Landon, quite frankly I'm not a fan of them. But I have to acknowledge how incredible of a team they were this year. Quite possibly the greatest HS lacrosse team ever. If you look at their schedule, it's grueling. Not just in quality of opponents, but also how many games they had within a short period of time. Couple that with the fact that their closest game all season was a two goal difference, and it completes an incredibly impressive resume. Incredible what those young men and Rob Bordley did. All with class as well. Kudos to Landon lax

A few Baltimore kids transferred to DC area high schools to play. I think that is telling.

8:30 I agree that overall competition in the DC region has never been better but back in the early 2000's, St. Albans and DeMatha were on the same page as Georgetown Prep.
SJC and the Zags had programs but their teams were not that competitive.

Look for Gonzaga's program to fall off in the next few seasons. SJC is on the rise as is Prep.

Landon will repeat next year as best team in the DC region.

And competition in the DMV has never been better. In the not so recent past you had either Prep or Landon at the top every year. Lately GZ has become a powerhouse and Bullis has been fantastic too. Look for SJC to continue getting stronger too along with SSAS and STA. There are so many great places to play lax in HS in DC now.

There have been other Prep and Landon teams that have finished #1 in national polls at the end of the year. However what Landon just did is may be the most impressive season a DC team has ever had. The sport is so much more popular now and there are so many more great HS teams all around the country. Just to take 2 of the teams Landon beat: Brunswick in CT has only one loss on its record, a close game with Landon but since then as beaten some of the best schools in NE. St Igantius from SAn Fran had a great game with Landon, then went up to Long Island and beat 2 of the best teams in that area. My point is that now you don't just have to beat the best teams from LI and Baltimore to be the best--now there are great teams in Philly, NE, Culver in Indiana, Cali, IMG in FL and even some strong TX teams. And you STILL have the great DC Baltimore and LI teams too!

Congrats to Landon on completing a historic season, 21-0. This team might be the best team that has ever come out of Washington DC area.
