I don't live in Virginia so I don't have a stake in the matter, but I've a feeling what is happening is something akin to a point of no return. Both for Virginia and nationally. There's a psychological effect here and it can be unpredictable how it will play out.

Republicans have a trifecta at the federal level. They could ban gerrymandering tomorrow if they wanted to. They don't want to ban gerrymandering! They even voted down Democratic proposals to ban partisan gerrymandering nationwide. I wonder why.

Current federal laws prevent one group from killing another group. Tell your current Republican representatives, while you have them, to support a federal law against partisan gerrymandering and this solves the problem.

Actually, they are.

1) Trump called the governor of Texas and demanded more congressional seats
2) Abbot then forced the change with his party.
3) no texans were polled, able to vote or anything, it was an edict
4) Virginia passed legislation
5) Virginia put it to a vote
6) the people of virginia voted


These are VERY different. Fact: if Texas doesn't do this, neither does Virginia.
