The average Virginian is pretty moderate (socially liberal leaning and fiscally conservative leaning). They might be anti-abortion for their own choices but they’re not ones to tell others what to do or impose their personal beliefs on someone else and are pro-choice for others.
I do not see the majority of Virginians finding pro-life measures and outlawing abortion to be a priority and in fact most will find it too overreaching and indecent. They will not support this in the numbers you suggest, not at all.
I have lived in Virginia all my life all over the commonwealth. Virginians aren’t known to be extreme on either end. So this knee jerk reaction that Virginians are chomping at the bit and just waiting for Youngkin to get elected so abortion can be banned is offensive. First there would have to be a law on his desk to sign. I don’t think it will get to that point, not anytime soon.
So stop painting Virginians as extreme right pro life marching single issue voter crazy trains. We’re not.
+100
The people insisting Youngkin would turn VA into Texas are obviously extremely insecure about this election (as they should be), and are trying to intimidate on-the-fence voters into voting for McAuliffe. Youngkin may be personally opposed to abortion (as are Biden and Tim Kaine, btw), but he is going to uphold all laws of VA.
Youngkin is on video saying he wants to ban abortion completely. He had never denied that this is what he believes. Apparently you feel you have to lie about your candidate to make him electable.

Virginia is for Lovers of Democracy.
*not* Marxism
You fools wouldn’t know Marxism if it hit you in the arse. Terry is a moderate pro business Democrat. Europeans laugh at the hysteria (you can’t even differentiate between socialism and communism) about communism. Don’t like a policy? Let’s throw the word communism around!

I will remember months of violent rioting and unrest that went on in the middle of a pandemic, and will support the candidate from the party that did not encourage that destructive behavior![]()

They sound like the hipsters in the coffee shop voting Trump.
As much as you, the Biden’s, Obama, Abrams, Harris, and random Dems try to make this election about Trump, it is about McAuliffe and Youngkin and what people in Virginia want.
Stop by a Virginia coffee shop today, and the only people talking about Trump will be the pink pussy cat hat boomers too old to evolve politically.
This. I can’t stand Trump (who is NOT ON THE BALLOT), but I’ll tell you what I can’t stand more: needing to waste money on private school because the navel gazing equity morons in charge can’t get out of their own way. Bye!!
Nothing wrong with bringing more equity into the schools. Were you always a racist or is this new behavior?
DP.
Equity? Nope.
Equality? Sure.

DP. You’re opposed to notions of fairness and justice in schools? You’re really letting the racist flag fly here.
DP. Academic equity is the opposite of academic excellence.
I'd like to see excellence in schools.
In which schools?
Currently, inequalities and biases are creating additional hurdles for some kids and schools to achieve “excellence”.
Don’t you want ALL kids and schools to excel?
DP. Why don't you tell us which public schools you're referring to?
DP. Look at SOL scores for any school system in VA that isn’t all white and you’ll see what pp was talking about.
Exactly.
Does PP truly want to see excellence in ALL schools? Or just those in historically white areas?

That’s not what he said. Are you an idiot or a liar? Curious minds want to know.
Nice try, but that was Terry’s basket of deplorable moment.
Here you can actually see what he said.

That’s an op-ed, fool.
You are so easily lead around. It’s scary.

He does seem to be a moderate Dem and often southern state candidates have more nationwide appeal. Is there anything disqualifying about him? Didn't live here during his first term so IDK what the big controversies may have been.
That’s the thing. Like so many VA lame duck governors, there is no big deal from a governance standpoint. From the vantage point of a centrist northern Virginian, I want decent services, roads getting paved up here and not road to nowhere projects in non-trafficked areas, and the state staying out of my uterus. As someone originally from another state, Virginia has decent services, moderate taxes, and pretty moderate on social issues. We know McAullife does those things. Youngkin in a new model “Republican”, which means it’s just anti-science, anti-logic, not-actually-Conservative nonsense. Just like I voted for Biden, I wish the dems had come up with a better candidate, but it is what it is.
But on a Presidential front, he would be a no hoper. He’s tied to the worst of the Clintons behaviors, and he’s a hack. The VA candidate that could go far is Mark Warner.
NoVa doesn't have decent services any longer. The public schools, in particular, are a debacle. I can't think of a single public school system with Arlington's wealth that's as consistently underwhelming as APS; FCPS is too big and inefficient, and controlled by wacky left-wing nutters; and LCPS is a case study in mediocrity and crisis mismanagement.
McAuliffe means four more years of this. Youngkin at least has the potential to shake things up and focus on quality academics again.
Has a Republican Governor “shaking things up” EVER resulted in better quality academics in any state?

Sorry to disappoint, but Youngkin's not an ahole at all. He hasn't screwed anyone over, nor has he ever been investigated for anything. McAuliffe however, has a history of doing both.

Yes, I agree they deserve not to be raped in their schools.
