You are AA. You were an English major. You had aspirations - a lawyer; a journalist; maybe a judge. But you also basically have ADD and while you finished your bachelor's degree pretty easily, you realized that you probably weren't cut out for an advanced degree. You met your DH at a bar in DC during one of those winter days when the Fed closes early due to an impending "weather situation" which turned out to be nothing more than an inch of slushy snow. You slept with DH on the 2nd date, which was actually the 1st date since your original encounter in the bar doesn't really count as a date. But, you've long since gotten over the sluttiness of that, since you were exclusive with DH pretty much immediately and married within 2 years of when you met.
You regret using such obviously biblical names for your first two, since you're actually not very religious at all. You and your DH fight sometimes, mostly about money. The kids are bright and funny.

Mary Anne
You didn't tell DH but you named Mary Anne that after The Babysitter's Club character, and even did her room in navy blue and pale yellow. She is outgoing and friendly, and has become the honorary granddaughter to your elderly next door neighbor after seeing her laying on the floor of her living room through the window when Mary Anne was walking the dog. She came running home with the dog, yelled at you to call 911, forced DH to come with her to break into the neighbor's house and immediately went and pulled down the lady's dress which had gotten hiked up in the fall (which made DH feel relieved because he'd never seen real life granny panties on a real life granny before). The old lady had a broken hip, and Mary Anne went over to visit every single day after she got out of rehab. She brought Oliver once or twice, but knew he tired out the neighbor.
Oliver is a soccer star, a natural athlete at everything, and gets high grades in school despite being class clown. His best friend is a tomboy named Tessa who's a little rough around the edges, but a kind girl.
DH is a high school principal of a private school and you are head of the guidance department at another school, a public one. DH comes from money, and you have laid the foundation to get a condo in Manhattan. The two of you often cook dinner together. Sometimes, you make milkshakes for the kids for dessert, and you put liquor in yours and DH's. Once a month you host a game night with friends you've had pre-kids. Alcohol is served at game nights. Often the kids only play one or two rounds and then all settle into the den with blankets to watch a movie. You think it's sweet when they fall asleep together.

Thanks! I don't know how you first really grasped what diabetes was, but I learned from Stacey McGill.

Nolan
Isla
Nolan is named after your husband's great-uncle, a beloved man who supposedly told lots of jokes and lost an arm in a farming accident. You never met him, but you love seeing how your husband would talk about him in such a tender, admiring way. And you love the idea of passing on family names. It is such a solid link to the past without have to get caught up in all of the silly trendiness of modern names. Your Nolan is a bright kid who is developing his own unique style of humor, but not everyone loves hearing his same knock-knock jokes over and over again and luckily he still has both arms intact. He seems to have inherited his father's curiosity and interest in science (your husband does research at NIH).
Isla is a Scottish name given in homage to your romantic Scottish honeymoon. She's a sweet baby with a mild temperament and you feel very satisfied with having two children. You come from a large family and like knowing that both of your children will receive plenty of love and attention and won't get lost in the chaotic mix of too many kids. You also like knowing that you and your husband are able to provide a stable, nurturing home. Your husband works hard, but when he is home his focus in on the family and sometimes you actually get a bit jealous about the strong relationship he has with Nolan. Prior to having kids, you did a lot of international travel for work and pleasure. You miss traveling and are starting to think about planning a family trip to London since you think that would be fairly easy to do with two young children. You are addicted to British comedies and have a crush on Ira Glass.
