I can’t afford private schools for my kids. I need to save for their college tuition
Sell the house. That should cover college. If they are no longer in MCPS you don't need your good school.
Where do I live then? My 2.0% mortgage is cheaper than even apartment rent now
You are smarter than me if your kids go to Wootton so I'm sure you're figure it out or take out loans.

The only people I know in the Wootton cluster who would be able to pay for private are the ones that only have one kid. We also can’t afford it. A lot of people on this thread think Wootton parents are very rich apparently.
You are saying you are rich and being exclusive because of your expensive houses. You are very rich. You just are house poor or not managing your money well.

What exactly did they do to bully the board? Most of them spoke within their allotted time, one of them might have gone slightly over their time, and one of them may have been a bit overzealous.
But is it any different then when other community members come to speak and have support in the background? Like the Crown and Fields Road families from a couple of weeks ago and they had everyone wearing the yellow vests and there were some today too.
How is one group different then the other? Or were they both trying to bully the board?
it’s only bullying when Wootton parents do it, for everyone else it’s just standing up and advocating for their kids.
This!!!
Read this parent whose lobbying to not fund other schools repairs for Wootton. They aren't advocating for their kids as if they were they'd take the new school. https://www.boarddocs.com/mabe/mcpsmd/Board.nsf/files/DMVQRQ6A7E72/$file/Junhua%20Liu%20Testimony%20102825.pdf

Wootton does have some more upper class areas. Maybe not as rich as some of the stereotypical/traditional richer areas around here.
One thing that kind of struck me were the number of speakers today that contribute to society in general. We had:
-a police officer
-at least one professor (was it two?)
-a city councilman
-an education policy maker
And I'm guessing the speaker who referenced Astra Zeneca is a researcher and helps in a related field to that.
Yet people on the board choose to beat up on them.
It even goes back to how Wootton had been neglected for so long. You'd think one of the top five performing high schools in the district would kind of be valued and be given all these special things and considerations. Like they'd be given some brand new state of the art campus to help them to continue to excel. But instead the student body makes do with what they have, they do complain about it once in a while, and still perform.
Seems kind of backwards to me.

Anonymous wrote:That Crown video with all the kids was absolutely RIDICULOUS. How is anyone taking "their" school?? It does not belong to them. This is a PUBLIC school system.

I wasn’t there but from what i’ve heard it was almost all people against H. No real supporters. BOE didn’t really make any meaningful comments.
A couple clowns made A**es of themselves, and Wootton to Crown seems predetermined.
