I get why you look at your kids age RL team and think why there will be little movement but look one year up and the truth will set you free. Then realize that there are about 2-3 RL teams for every NL team and then you realize the shake up will be bigger than you think. But coach lock will provide some sand in the gears for some teams destined to get overrun by the bigger teams for a year as many clubs that will be too slow to adjust.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Your hyperbole doesn't fly. And that creates a big shuffle, nobody saying US will ever produce a Messi.Anonymous wrote:Damn, we've replaced SY-60 guy with my RL Aug-Dec kid will be the next Messi OR Rodman, so NL current team kids get out of the way! Sorry to say, there'll be movement but not so much from RL. You're buying into the hype.

Aside from the top nationally ranked teams. I would say RL Q3/4 players are usually equal to NL subs. So that’s where the battle will happen for current subs.
The ECNL and GA Aug-Dec starters will come to new teams and battle for or take those starting spots.
Players will shift
ECNL player playing all game goes to playing half a game or slightly more than half
ECNL starter to ECNL sub/GA starter
ECNL Sub to RL/GA

RAE isn't a magic wand, it happens over years -- which means many of the Jan-Aug players will likely hold their own, especially for any team currently playing 11v11. Don't forget each time likely will be losing their current Aug-Dec players.
And RL players? Their best shot to get to an NL club will be changing clubs and it won't be easy.
On top of that, you have club politics that will affect rosters, except for the elite of elites who are utterly ruthless (already) but they won't be taking RL players.
Just check the past summer tournaments, younger ECNL teams get destroyed by older RL or even local teams when playing up.
They don’t get it. Most Q1/2 parents want to put their heads in the ground and pretend shifting the playing calendar doesn’t matter. When in fact it definitely matters for most top team players at most ages.
Will every ECNL Q1/2 get replaced obviously not. If players are able to play up currently and compete they Will be fine.
I do not see to many true RL players taking spots as much as I think we will see Q3/4 ECNL/GA studs getting on the new age group top club teams.
You can keep saying that but its not true. Olders top players have already been identified.
Maybe in a couple of years Sept birthdays will start filtering up but its going to take a while.
Also most top BY trapped players would prefer to stay with their current team. Which would be considered playing up in SY.

Seems the only advocates for playing down, aka outside the 365 day age group, are one offs; SY plus lune, and rapid bioband defender. I don't even recall someone being pro GY but plenty have been in different.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Damn, we've replaced SY-60 guy with my RL Aug-Dec kid will be the next Messi OR Rodman, so NL current team kids get out of the way! Im sure that you're the most annoying person posting on this thread.
You want a specific thing and try to diminish everything else.
It will be fun watching you jump to some other excuse when you current BY pine riding trap player starts pine riding in SY.
Que sera, sera -- but you're sorta agreeing with the previous post.
Not at all
SY+30 with a 9/1 cutoff is the same thing as 8/1 with a rule that Aug players arent allowed to play down. Which is almost guaranteed to happen because allowing players to play down screws up recruiting when players are older.
What's going on is you have one parent that's giddy about their kid playing down. So much so that they can barely contain themselves.
Playing down is what ruined HS sports. Regular kids dont stand a chance against 16 year old freshman. Its a shortcut that generally doesnt play out as they get older.

But then these kids will be likely to get kicked off the glamour positions like forward to wing or CAM to CDM or CB to OB and they look real different come recruiting time so everyone impacted.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:This thread is hilarious. Full of trolls and neurotic parents. Any player that would be impacted by the BY vs SY change has no chance of playing beyond high school. So much angst over something so trivial.
Dont disagree with the first part but I do the second. High level Aug - Dec kids could be greatly impacted. Not from a skill level, but from a team level. They could still play “up” but would that be best when trying to go to college since their graduation year won’t match with their team? If they play “down” then they’re on a completely new team with maybe 3-4 players they’ve played with before and possibly not as challenged, but they would be on grade when recruiting starts. I think both scenarios qualify as being impacted.
I am sure some kids are impacted by this one way or another but it is at the margin. The players going to big D1 programs or even pro are already at MLS academies or already being tracked by scouts as one of the top players. These players would always be able to play up and a few months difference in age groups are irrelevant to them.
