It’s happening and the delay in releasing a coaching slate and ID sessions just keeps putting them further and further behind the curve. If McLean would have learned from their first merger and did things differently this go around, it might have been very successful for everyone involved. Unfortunately, McLean doesn’t realize that their going to lose their best talent from the younger ages to other clubs, it’s already happening and it’s sad and unfortunate but they made their own bed once again.
Time will tell but my guess is they will
lose the top 1/3 of their girls at the 2011 and 2012 age groups to other ECNL teams. And the other local clubs can smell blood in the water, both GA and ECNL clubs are and will be coming after the top players from both Brave and Union.
McLean/Union has rested on their history and laurels for too long and now they’ve exposed themselves to losing their top players. Lessons learned the hard way once again…and the worse part is that the girls are all the sacrificial lambs in this debacle.
Nice bit of fiction there McLean dad. Won’t even address your stories about how or why this current union is coming together.
McLean 2011’s and 2012’s lost players long before even the SYC merger, let alone this current one. And the 2-3 2012’s they lost this tryout season to SYC was weeks ago before this merger was even a thought.

Indeed. The boys side struggles across the board at MYS while it remains strong SYC.The 2010 girls benefitted greatly from the SYC partnership but the 2011s gained far less. The distance is too great as well.
MYS likely moved away from SYC as the partnership was not making them more competitive and was only a burden. We will all see if the new ECNL teams gain strength — I hope parents wait to see how the actual coaching slate and how teams look after ID sessions. If the talent of all clubs stay, this could be a very good alliance.
SYC pulled out of partnership. They now have two national leagues at home without any partnerships. I think SYC is just a few steps ahead on all this chaos.

Id imagine union is already operating at a loss and being supported by its foundation clubs, as are most ECNL / GA top level entities. Halve the expenses, halve the debt.

Not a brave issue, since the were new. McLean was always struggling on the boys end, hence SYC partnership. They left them for GA, and now they were forced to find a new partner.

I’m sure a few Brave 09s will make Unions 09s but this is the least benefitted age group from the partnership, considering the top players stay across both clubs.

MYS likely moved away from SYC as the partnership was not making them more competitive and was only a burden.
