I've never heard of coaches doing this. I've heard players going to another schools because of AP/IB, but it's really hard to argue against trying to actually take more challenging academic programs that the initial school doesn't offer. Robinson will always be a contender; not because they necessarily have better coaching, but because they have a huge service area to pull from. I have seen players hop from LB, W. Springfield, Centreville etc. to go to Robinson, some for IB (which again is hard to argue against) and some not (folks moved into the area).

Hmm, this seems like wishful thinking. Westfield, Chantilly and Oakton are all AP schools, as are Madison and Langley, so they couldn't poach from each other under any guise. That leaves South Lakes as the lone IB school. Are you suggesting both Madison and Langley are better at lacrosse because they are both poaching from South Lakes?

No idea if Langley is actually poaching but you can pupil place there from another AP school to take a foreign language not offered at your assigned school. There are quite a few Westfield-zoned kids at Langley this year.

It is great hearing about them and the big match-ups but also love to hear about other programs that have to recruit athletes from other sports -- underdog stories are the best and often times more interesting. What about Robinson and Battlefield -- isn't there a Power 6? Agree with prior post - let's hear from all the teams. Just like March Madness Oakland isn't going to win the NCAA Championship but it still was a great story beating Kentucky.

I think the PP was focused on Region D. Robinson (Region C) definitely, and Battlefield (Region B) probably, are also in the title hunt, along with Freedom (Region B) potentially.

Statement is so short sided. Chantilly, Westfield and Oakton have had strong programs over the years and will rise back up again and South Lakes used to be a lesser team that has certainly improved the product they put on the field. Both Oakton and Chantilly have won it all. Are they in that top four this year, of course not, but it doesn't mean those players and coaches on those teams aren't putting in the work to get better through off season leagues, green day workouts, and their spring seasons. Kids playing organized team sports get great benefits from the experience whether they are on teams of significance or not. I'm tied to a team that you deem significant and I can assure you we don't look down on those teams. McLean and Langley are on an uptick and have a great chance to do great things this year, but there are kids on these teams that would have been considered insignificant by your terms just a few seasons ago. All of these athletes are working to be better every day.
