Biden makes occasional mumbles, stutters, and mistakes, such as refering to the Egyptian President as being from Mexico. Eyebrow-raising as it might be, the mistakes are easy to identify in context. You know that he's referring to Sissi, the Egyptian President, and he's talking about the humanitarian situation in Gaza, because the rest of the sentence is clear.

But Trump is on a cosmically different level.

He drones on about complete nonsense that is only very, very tenuously associated with his grievance of the moment. His supporters have to work really hard to translate it and pretend it all makes sense.

The shark/battery comment is a good example of this, but there are others, like his water pressure obsession, or his windmill obsession. None of us should have to work this hard to relate his words to either policy (he has none) or ideology (too much government push into environmental concerns?). His mental faculties are now not only inadequate for the job of President, but also for the job of CEO, business owner, or any position of authority. And that's before we parse his ethics or morals! We're just focusing on his ability to string cogent thoughts together.

Trump's diction is usually clear (with few exceptions), but the content reveals his brainmelt. The shell is empty - to some it projects a particular flavor of macho strength, and that's enough for certain voters, who don't have much in the braincase themselves.

Biden's diction is a little more laborious (stutter and age), but the content is usually thoughtful. The shell is worn but the brain inside still has some good years left. You might not appreciate his political leanings, but I say it's still better to have a functioning brain at the helm than an empty skull.

She wants the MAGA voters in 2028. At the same time, it's not clear that Trump's getting back all of the Haley voters in 2024. I think we'll see not an insignificant number sit out entirely, vote for RFK, or even cross over.

I think the Haley voters, especially after she’d dropped out, are the ones who were signaling that they’re done with the GOP until the Trump rot is excised. I think a significant portion of them will vote Biden. January 6 was the last straw and Trump’s meandering ramblings of dementia are hammering nails in the coffin.

It was like that during his years in the WH years, too; it’s just gotten worse. It used to be that a person could listen to/read him at length and squint and kind of be like, “okay, I think he might be referencing x…?” but now it’s to the point that I can’t figure out what the heck he’s rambling about.
