I don't disagree with you - the Rand Paul attack was brutal and people mocking him is ahole behavior. Nevertheless I am not sure the two situations are exaatcly comparable. And a few jerks being mean is not the same as freaking Fox News - or any other national broadcast corp - trying to frame the victime despite clear contradictory evidence.

Amazing how minds are changed with more information. There was no need to delay release. The case, based on video and witnessed attack by police, also on video made the case open and shut. The information was held back seemingly due to politics and then only released when holding it back, backfired. I personally knew the attack was brutal and clear from the beginning, but I can also see how holding information back gave room for speculation

How is it an "observation" when it was never supported by any of the of the police reports, official accounts, statements or anything else?
None of the accounts said they were both in their underwear or naked. None of them said DePape was in anything other than street clothes.
None of the accounts said anything about a gay relationship, or that DePape was a gay prostitute. None of them said anything about a lovers fight, let alone that they knew each other (they didn't). Nor "they both had hammers" et cetera.

THAT. WAS. ALL. MADE. UP. It wasn't "observations." All of that was made up. Completely fabricated from nothing, completely unsupported by any actual information. And then it was widely repeated and amplified all over social media, even though it was total and complete fiction, including by prominent Republican elected officials and news figures.

Clearly Depape could hear what the operator was saying because when she asked Pelosi what the man's name was Depape answered and said his name was David.

I think Pelosi could clearly tell DePape was mentally off and I think he was probably trying to see if he could get DePape to tell the dispatcher that he needed mental health intervention. Pelosi was telling the dispatcher that he (Pelosi) thought there was a problem and was trying to see if he could get DePape to acknowledge he was having a mental meltdown to get the right kind of help.
