I'm guessing their target audience is the small town voter in a swing state, who doesn't care about USAID and maybe even supports ICE...but who definitely cares about the cost of health insurance.

The CR was already agreed to and the covid subsidies were not included in that, in fact that was passed a while back, why do they think bringing it up now it in any way valid to the prior passed agreement?
Its like singing to buy a house and you pass all inspections and consessions and then someone brings up they don't like the color of the floors and want to delay signing and include that.
GOP spin.. Obviously there was NOT sufficient agreement to leave the subsidies out, or we wouldn't have a shutdown problem.
It already passed this is not accurate. In fact I am all for a law that avoids shutdowns for both sides of the have nothing to do with passing a clean budget. This time democrats throw in random stuff to shutdown next time republicans will throw in 10 billion to the military budget. It's really dumb it's not getting anywhere and the public can see it. Doesn't make sense, I don't want to pay the power bill because I am not happy with the water bill
Unless a bill can pass both House AND Senate, the fact that it passed in one chamber is absolutely meaningless.

Because the House back in March used the same "my way or the highway" posture that they are using now, passing their bill then refusing any negotiation with the Senate. Schumer reluctantly voted for their bill, hoping an extension to the subsidies could be worked out during the summer. That didn't happen and Dems see this as their last chance on the subsidies, given that open enrollment begins next month.
I know it has been 15 years since they have passed regular budget bills, but they should still be able to do that.

If it already passed we wouldn't have a shutdown. This is like the part of the social network where he says, if you guys were the inventors of facebook, you'd have invented facebook.

Please someone explain this to me!
Republicans only care about the wealthy (corporations and people). They'll hold the middle and lower classes hostage to get concessions - corporate welfare or tax breaks. Then the Republicans will turn on their media hype machine to blame Dems for any pain their constituents felt. R constituents will fall for it hook, line, and sinker. Rinse and repeat.
Well, they were for Trump. So, too little too late.
