I don’t know anything about that coach but I’m not seeing turnover so much as shuffling around of coaches to different age groups and or genders. A lot of the names for next year‘s coaching slate are the same as the ones for this past year. Looks like a few new names but not a ton. Though I’m really not sure what is normal in terms of how much coaches tend to follow a specific team up through the age groups or whether they tend to stay at the same age group with a new crop of kids every couple of years. I thought it was more the latter at most places?

Yes, Sean is a great coach and is also very good with the players. Gabriel Portillo coming back is great too. Kids love him and he knows how to develop players.

Sean is one of the best in the area. He can relate to the kids and is great at development. Despite all the bashing on this thread, he is a bright spot for this club. I am sure RQ is taking girls with him but those staying will enjoy Sean.

The demographic difference between a Valor team and a teenaged CYA rec team is pretty drastic. Iowa vs Central America.

We saw a rec game between two middle school teams before one of our games in the fall and there were a few very good players who could easily play club. Both teams were almost entirely Hispanic kids.

That poster was trying to say that most of the decent players are gone after U9 or so, because they all leave for Valor since they take anyone. This tracks with what I have seen. Kids I know who aren’t good at all have made CYA all stars at the older ages. The better athletes in CYA don’t stay in rec soccer as they get older; they either do travel or go to other sports.

Exactly 100%. After U10 rec the all star teams tend to be the leftover rec players that weren’t able to move up to a decent position in travel (ie 1-3 club teams). Except Valor . . . There is always room for rec rejects at Valor.

He's coaching the gold team. There are 3 other teams in that age group-2014 girls.

I dont know a thing abiut rec all stars because our kids did academy then club but who would be left to play in rec if they are staffing five Valor teams per age group out of their rec programs? Of course their teams are bad.
