This was our experience. Kids got over it in a few days and it was uncomfortable. Parents had a much much buffer time with it. People forget its not just about the kids but kids live with adults and them getting covid can spread.

And? Will you be getting to a point?

Montgomery, Prince George’s, and Howard County are currently at high community spread as of this week, increased from the previous weeks.

And yet deaths have been flat since March, as the initial Omicron wave subsided. Similarly, ICU admissions have been fairly flat.

So, a lot of people are getting Covid, but people don’t seem to be getting particularly sick from it.

Bad colds don't kill as many people as Covid has. Be real... that's great it was gone for you in 5 days. Not all of us are that fortunate.

How many has BA.5 killed? Cite your sources.

The US 7-day average is 497 deaths/day from Covid, and BA.5 is the dominant variant. You can look that up anywhere.

Or to put it another way, deaths have been trending slightly above the expected baseline, but thus far haven't been comparable to previous waves. Image is from the CDC.

It's not. Omicron was just the worst runny nose I've ever had, but this is a total non-event. Only knew something was wrong because I had a fever.

and some of us felt bad for 2 weeks and tested positive just as long. There is no one experience.

Again, why should I suffer mentally, emotionally, and financially because of this? I was forced to destroy my life to "protect you". What have you done to support me?

It really sounds like you had some underlying issues that you had neglected to resolve before COVID brought them to the forefront. I don't know why else you'd have such a tough time dealing with COVID restrictions, while everyone else has put up with them just fine.

By this logic I shouldn’t GAF about the “underlying issues” that are still making you try to control other people’s behavior now.

Correct - because I'm not trying to control other peoples' behavior, so therefore there are no underlying issues that would cause me to behave that way.

Great so you agree there should not have been covid restrictions?

My oncologist has already been crapped on here for telling me this (which is funny because my 5cm tumor is almost gone - she is rocking my treatment) but she said “Go out and live your life!” Indoor crowded spaces I should be cautious and wear a mask, but otherwise I should go about my business.

Because those of us who've been through chemo know that an oncologist who's telling a chemo patient to not be Covid-cautious is incompetent.

Going through chemo makes you qualified on…absolutely nothing.

Really? Even if while I was on chemo I was exposed a stomach bug from one of kids (who were all <11yo at the time) which put me in the hospital for a couple of nights because chemotherapy (along with having cancer) makes you more susceptible to infections? So maybe I'm kind of a little more knowledgeable about this than some random internet trolls.

Why, 2 1/2 years into this, do we STILL have Covid minimizers trolling around on this board??? It's so bizarre.

Why do we still have mental health minimizers? Why are you allowed to discuss your cancer but I can't discuss how my HoH mother has been completely isolated by masks or that seeing them all the time triggers PTSD in my friend who was raped or that the isolation I've been subjected to because of mandatory WFH has made me suicidal? Why can you discuss your concerns and I can't?

Start your own thread. This is about covid. You could have found a different job.

Spent 18 months looking. Not all of us have amazing resumes. Does that justify locking me up, in your mind? You're ok with me killing myself because I couldn't find a new job? Why did I have to suffer for everyone else's anxiety?

Because you're a marytyr for all the people who were victimized by COVID restrictions. You are the Chosen One.

Oh, you're one of those who think restrictions are harmless. I see. Pathetic.

We have never had any restrictions. You have been able to do anything you want.

They literally closed schools for a year. Give me a break with your "never had any restrictions" nonsense.

Schools weren't closed, they moved online. Did you miss the memo?

How have you suffered? Really? No wonder kids are having such issues. Get a therapist if you are struggling that much.
