I assumed that based on the title, DH was going to leave early, drive 6 hours, do the college visit, and then drive home that same day. And I was going to respond that was fine.

But OP thinks (i) 6 hours is too long, with (ii) *only* a two day rest in between?

It's probably a good idea for the PP's kids - this way, the college won't have any exposure to their mother, which undoubtedly would completely tank their admission chances.

It wouldn’t cross my mind to object to this. DH does 8 all the time in as short or shorter trips. He used to do 12 which I did worry about. I tell him to be safe but especially with someon to keep him awake I don’t understand this issue?
