There has to be a better way for parents to engage than having to email the form for the board and superintendent. It is very challenging. I don't want to bog down ACPS staff and leadership, but this is not about whether or not about his job performance or my personal opinions of him or any leaders. It is about my kid's health and safety, and that is the hill that I'm willing to die on. My kids and our kids in our community, as well as our teachers and their families, matter. This is not personal or an attack on Dr. Hutchings. This is about addressing COVID-19 mitigation.
I am curious if you received any type of meaningful response on the issue of the non-binding school choice forms being treated as binding. It seemed that Hutchings never acknowledged that he went back on his word (rather than explaining why the change in course had to be made). I find his unwillingness to not own up to misstatements, etc. infuriating.

No, he is employed by the school board not an elected official. The best course of action right now is to vote in school board candidates that will hold him accountable and possibly terminate his contract. Enough is enough with this guy’s shenanigans and hubris.
Have you looked at his contract? ACPS cannot afford to terminate him without cause. There are very few candidates running that are even capable of holding him accountable!
That said, the superintendent job in Alexandria is among the most undesirable, so we are always destined to get the absolute bottom of the pile.
