We tried and it wasn’t possible. After that, we talked and came up with our early checkout plan.

Not OP. Bringing this forward because it seems to have been missed in the scramble above.

A hotel is fully booked in the pandemic? Where is this?

If you ventured from your bunker you’d find that pretty much every air bnb[b][i] in a desirable vacation spot is fully booked this summer.

Hotel/air bnb

Wow, nice homophobic slur.

My husband clearly communicated with his parents. We have both clearly stated why we don’t like adjoining rooms.

They chose to ignore. We choose to leave early and never go on trips with them again.

Pansy is not a homophobic slur. Grow up, book you're own damn room. You clearly didn't trust MIL to begin with, yet left the arrangements in her hands. Your fault

Who said the hotel was fully booked?

Plus, “fully booked” at the moment could mean 40 percent capacity, or whatever the venue/state determine is max right now.

Control the one thing that you can in the moment. Hint: door with lock on your side.

Haven't you heard? The pandemic is "over" even though we're nowhere near herd immunity numbers by any real measurement other than wishful, magical thinking, because people are "over it." Air travel has gone back to near 2019-levels and those people need hotels, especially in popular tourist destinations.

It’s fine for fully vaccinated people to travel. Deal with it.

Lock the door anyway. When they knock just keep announcing that you’re not dressed.
