I get what you're saying, PP, but I agree with several other posters that you might find more diversity than you think, if you look for it. I'm South Asian and moved to a suburb of a large city in the Midwest. My kids have never been the only South Asian kid in any of their classes. And I doubt they ever will be. It's far better than my childhood in an oh-so-enlightened DC suburb, where I was told by other kids that I looked like a gorilla, and constantly asked if I was related to the one other Indian kid in my grade. There is a large Black population here, too (both AA and immigrants, mostly Nigerian and Caribbean). Plenty of Chinese people also, as well as a large Jewish population.
My friends in DC seem to think I should be desperate to move back there. I'm really, really not. My $350k house here would be $2 million for the same quality of schools in the DC suburbs.
Another south Asian here! Where are you?? Chicago suburbs?
I’m an injun too
Is that you Elizabeth?

South Asian PP here. Smaller and cheaper than Chicago, on a different Great Lake, with major medical institutions that have a ton of Indian employees. I live in a suburb where many Indian doctors live (and the Jews, the Chinese, the Nigerians, etc.). Schools are excellent.

Anonymous wrote:People aren't going to tell you *exactly* where they are moving. Why? Because plenty of people on this forum are snobs and will try to rip any place listed to shred. I *love* my home (i.e. the LCOL I left the DMV for) and I don't want to see it criticized by the angry, bitter people who think the DMV, New York and San Francisco are the only place to live. I will NEVER mention it by name on this forum. And, yes, my home has
1. Great school district (highly rated by all objective measures).
2. LCOL
3. Better traffic.
4. Better weather.
5. I make significantly more here than I did in the DMV.
6. Laid back attitude
These places are out there. You just have to look. Some people will never "see" them because they only want to live in places considered desirable by their social circle.
