Sigh.
As multiple people have already stated, there is literally nothing more interesting going on in our lives save for the rare other thread discussing some middle aged couple's sizzling marital drama or the other exciting thread discussing how private school is purely for instilling the love of learning and has zero to do with getting a leg up in elite college admissions.
Happy?

Maybe because this band is far more interesting than whether or not Kate Middleton took a shit yesterday?

Or whether or not some brat kid in the suburbs scored a 140 or a 141 in the WISC?

What makes them interesting? Their effeminate appearance? If so, that explains a lot.

Fans like the empowering messages of many of their songs, and the personalities and interactions of the members who are unique individuals and have very fun interactions with one another. Fans have watched them grow up/ become adults and overcome many relatable hardships over the last 8 years, they are like a family to each other and ARMY is considered an extension of that. It becomes very personal and hard for outsiders to understand. Fans are extremely loyal because of this history. Looks are also part of it but I don’t think it’s the most important aspect.

This is it for my young kids and me too. They're just really interesting to watch, and of course great performers (even though I don't understand the language at all).
I get that the knee-jerk response to people who don't 'get' their appeal is to term them as effeminate/ gay/ weird and honestly I think that's ok too, not everyone has to like the same types of people, just don't go trashing other people's preference.
PP, your type may be the Rock or the Hemsworth brothers but understand that not everyone is a rabid fan of that type either.

Will also add that I think the LGBTQ community offers a lot of fan support to them because BTS has supported the community throughout their history despite SK being generally not supportive of it at all. BTS members have never revealed any orientation.

A few years ago I was dealing with helping my daughter through a really tough bullying situation that went on for over a year. I heard the song "Not Today" by BTS and it gave me strength to help her. I really like that song and I hope kids that struggle get a chance to hear it and understand the lyrics.

I am completely offended that you aren't waiting on tenterhooks to find out where my DC is going to go to college.

Came across this interesting article profiling BTS ARMY in the NYT:

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/10/14/business/bts-ipo.html?action=click&module=RelatedLinks&pgtype=Article

It seems BTS's core demographic is women in their 20s and 30s. Interesting read.

Army does not consist of that many 13 year olds relative to older fans, or at least it also has many 40-50 year olds that offset. Many have husbands, wives and kids.

Young teens are more likely to be TXT or Enhyphen fans because the members are younger. Twitter is the biggest platform for BTS fans and Twitter users skew older - young teens are more likely to mostly use Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok or Twitch for social media.

Army typically is at least in college or has a job, and can afford to buy BTS merch or anything associated with them. BTS is an advertiser’s dream, because Army has money. BTS recently advertised water filters, vibrating massage chairs, Palisade SUVs and FILA sportswear. These are not 13 year old brands.
