Fans have watched them grow up/ become adults and overcome many relatable hardships over the last 8 years, they are like a family to each other and ARMY is considered an extension of that. It becomes very personal and hard for outsiders to understand. Fans are extremely loyal because of this history. Looks are also part of it but I don’t think it’s the most important aspect.
