I have told his teachers repeatedly to please give him the grade he deserves and they keep cutting out homework he never did, telling him he can skip quizzes, etc. It’s crazy, I don’t get it. They aren’t helping him by doing this. I can only assume they are under tremendous pressure to pass everyone.
They are, particularly for sped students. But I am with you. I have to honestly document that despite massive amounts of help, communication, intervention, support and accommodation they still cannot pass. It’s the only way I can ensure the system provides the support they will need. If I lie and show passing grades and progress toward goals, I risk them losing services or having accommodations removed which does NOT help them.

Sounds like you have failed as his parents. You need to step up and help your kid.

They are doing an admirable job. It’s insulting for parents to just blanket state they’re not learning or getting anything or progressing. They’re living through a worldwide crisis and personal disruption of normal. No they’re not achieving what they would in 2018, none of us are. But don’t take away what they have been able to do by claiming no progress or learning at all whatsoever is happening.
These kind of blanket statements are equally ridiculous. How could you possibly know what’s going on across the district learning wise?
I as a teacher who works in this system have access to more information and data points than parents. You are mostly speaking about your own kids. I am not.
You don’t have access to anything beyond your own students and as a teacher who wants to believe this entire year has not been in vain, you are seeing what you want to see.
