Personally I would never. Obviously I don't think that my kids will ever break the law. If they did (God forbid), of course I would want them held accountable for their actions but could never disown them.

I'm not like that. If I have any children and he, she, or they commit any crimes, I disown him, her, or them right then and there with no regrets.

No, a parent should never abandon a child during the child's time of need.

Maybe it depends upon one's definition of love, but unconditional love means forever and always.

You could visit your child in prison/remain in contact knowing they were convicted of pedophilia, rape and/or murder? Speaking that they were 100% guilty.

I think some people are just in total denial. We had a case in our town with a child (and then several others came forward) sexually molested, raped in one case, by a coach. He maintained his innocence even after dozens of kids came forward. He finally pled guilty and is in prison. His mother the entire time claimed the original child was lying and all the others wanted their 5 minutes of fame (mind you the original child was 9 and all subsequent ones who came forward were ages 9-13). Even after he pled guilty she maintains his innocence saying he was coerced by his attorneys, etc. TOTAL DENIAL.

Did you see the Dahmer series on Netflix? It was sad and also interesting to see how his father responded to finding out about his crimes. I actually cried in the scene after the police disclose what they found in Dahmer's apartment and he is left alone in the room to process it all.

No, my kids are my kids. I would support justice, and not condone or excuse what they did, but it’s my job to stay with them.

I come from a family of criminals.

I told mine over and over again do not call me if you get arrested unless you are 1000% sure you are not guilty.

Kyle Rittenhouse is not a criminal. If my child had to kill to protect themselves against someone who attacked them unprovoked I would certainly stand by them.

If they committed an actual real serious crime it would be harder. I wouldn’t enable or defend them but I would visit them in prison and so they could feel they still had a family, it would be my cross to bear.
