I’m seriously asking.
I was sad when my dad died, but if a celebrity death affected me it was truly for not being able to selfishly enjoy more of their work.
Not at all. No one has the capacity to be seriously affected by the death of everyone they've ever heard of. People are only affected by the passing of celebs who for whatever reason, touched their lives in an oddly personal way. For me, it was Anthony Bourdain - I read his books just when I was developing a love of cooking, and the combination of his humor, flaws and talent really drew me in. There's nothing wrong with not having a celebrity affect your life that way.
+1 - the question was impact. When Steve Irwin died, it was like, sighhhhh. Ughhhh.
When David Bowie died, I remember researching Iman and where they lived in NY, their daughter, and just being really happy that they were in love together at the end. I don't think I realized it was a long term serious relationship. So, you know, it impacted me enough to google.
