Before the birth control pill, lots of women had babies after 40 if they were still having sex.

My mom (born in the 20s) was so embarrassed when her youngest sibling was born, because it meant that her mom was still having sex at age 44. He mom also didn't want to have the baby, but this was when abortion was illegal, so she had the baby whether she wanted to or not.

I'm happy women have more choices now.

Outlier for the time, but my grandmother had my uncle at 42 in the early 50s and my mother at 44. I assume she did it because she married late and they wanted kids. That's it.

Yup! Also, before birth control and abortion, plenty of women would have had babies at 28 and 40, whether they wanted them or not.

I have no patience for people who would rather judge women for their choices than invest energy into making sure women HAVE CHOICES.

Age 54 here, still getting regular periods. No question I could have conceived naturally in my early 40s. (I conceived my youngest child at age 37 the first month we tried.)

Huh. Attending my child’s graduation at 58 is a horrible idea, way too old and who wants to plan to sail right into a thriving career with seniority before an optional retirement after having an empty nest and regaining your personal time? It makes much more sense to center everything around being no older than 53 at graduation, and who cares about the difference those four years make to a professional women in terms of expertise, increased salary, and a longer period to grow larger chunks of money. 58 is a ridiculous stretch. Snort. The only menopausal people sitting on high school graduation benches should be those raggedy 43 year old women that are only 3 years in to being grossly menopausal.

There's nothing wrong with older moms.

Also, why are you only picking on older moms- what about older dads? There are issues linked to older sperm. Men also die sooner so might not live as long for their children.

I hated kids. Then at 40, I didn't. So I had one. Tons of donors at the sperm banks to choose from.

I didn't have enough money to have children til 40. I did not want to be on welfare.

I did not go into menopause til 52. So no, menopause is not at 40.

In my circle (multi-degreed, professional women) most women had children at 40+. No that is not the average but that is my circle.

I birthed 2 children at 41 and 43 and adopted one at 46.

Menopause age varies. Mine didn’t happen until mid 50s, 15 years after my last pregnancy. Using your logic, if it starts at 40, then 25 is getting too old.
