Also: masked PE, outside in the heat? Absurd. Inside, maybe.
Also: socializing? Kids will be policed and there will be no resources left for any kind of socio emotional learning.
Our private has been open since the start of the school year. For PE, they do it outside or inside (depends on weather) but I get the impression it's not 30 minutes of intense cardio anyway.
For recess, the blacktop is marked off so each class has their own segment to play in. They still socialize fine while following the rules. Our 2nd grader reports the kids have made up various playground games where they can keep their distance and still have fun. Kids can adapt.
It’s a private school.
That sounds miserable.

I want to preface my statement by saying that I am glad the drug companies are working on finding a vaccine. But, wow, what parents are putting their kids into these trials? It seems so mind bogglingly unsafe to me. I want a vaccine but I want a little more work and testing with animals first.

We are currently looking to move our kids to private as soon as possible, and will not look back.

The unions will insist on no in person school until all kids are vaccinated - which is not happening! The child vaccine is not even in trials yet. Omg how can people not see that no school is so convenient for so many adults in the school system????
Teachers have a right to be healthy. Just because you find it convenient to ignore, doesn't mean vaccines aren't necessary to ensure that.
So you are ok with no in person school till 2022-2023 at the earliest?
DP. I certainly am!!! DL is working great for our family (elementary and middle schools). Our kids are doing well, they are healthy and happy and relaxed. We are happy about DL and much prefer DL to hybrid, which sounds pretty awful.
utterly absurd. feds will be back in the office by spring/summer. So we all have to hire FT nannies?
What's absurd is that you feel entitled to sit safely at home on your rump working untli spring/summer, but demand to force teachers and other school employees into unsafe conditions to be your babysitters.
How about this? The moment you all go back to work full-time, in office, schools will open. Problem solved.
I literally know 0 parents who would not take you up on that.

Parents should simply withdraw en masse.
Parents are living in a fantasy world if they think anyone cares if they withdraw en masse.
You know what happens when you do? Nothing.
Property taxes still keep rolling in and so do salaries.
Good luck affording private school for your offspring though. I hear 18-21 years of education payments are a bitch.
Nice try. No enrollment means no job for you.
LOL This entire area's school systems are overcrowded and have been for decades. Its so bad kids are on rotation in trailers. Fairfax enrollment has already gone down what 5%? That just makes it closer to having actually normal classroom student-to-teacher ratios. I look forward to it.
Lol. No one will want you for a teacher since you are OK SCREWING kids over.
Get back to the office or get fired.

They are stuck right now on 1) fear of the unknown and 2) thinking that all their hard work on DL will surely pay off (it won't). Even this arguing teacher likely does even as she plays provocateur.
Life will force their hand. This can't go on. They will be back in the classroom next year or on leave.
Actually, I don't think so. Even if the states begin fast-tracking applicants and lowering their standards, I don't think the states will be able to meet the need for teachers. Too many teachers are getting fed up by the constant attacking mode that they see on social media.

Keep repeating the same mantra. I'll see you crying for it still in March.
I am in a district where the teachers are happy to be in the classroom teaching. And are doing so with great success and no Covid.
They are caring professionals unlike you, loser.
