Um, there are 22 more days until the election (and 16 more days with the polls open). I don't know why so many people are trying to vote on the first day the polls open.
Um, maybe because Indigenous People's Day (or Columbus Day as they still call it in GA) is a state/fed holiday there. Maybe these folks are taking advantage of the one day where they won't miss work or have to burn leave to vote.
I absolutely hate it when Democrats refer to black people as “folks.”![]()

A lot of people use the word folks to refer to people generally. I use it all the time and never thought anyone was using it to refer specifically to black people.

Me, too.
- White woman who uses "folks"
Me three
- black person that thinks folks are trippin’
+1 Asian female who uses it all the time, including at work. Ridiculous thing to be concerned about.
-1 white female. I do not use folks as I have heard from or read enough about black people indicating that they felt the word was disrespectful and intended to minimize, etc. I use the word to refer to other white folks, but not in reference to other races/ethnicities.

My gosh. Some of you are such idiots.
Nobody HAS to wait hours to vote 3 weeks prior to election day. It is their choice. If they arrive at a polling place and don't like the line, they can return another time.
This was the FIRST day of early voting. I guarantee you that lines will diminish. JUST LIKE THEY DID IN VIRGINIA.
True, but then they might miss their window to vote all together, so it is worth it for them to wait and cast their vote. Not everyone has the flexibility, means, transportation etc eto just pop by a polling place whenever.
NP. You’re being extra PP. Most people can find a time over the next few weeks.

Really? Don't you know why?
A vote today counts the same as a vote on October 28 or November 3. But if people prefer to wait in line, then that is their choice.
+1
“Voter suppression,” my a$$. Plenty of voters - of ALL races - have waited in line for hours to vote, across the country. As the PP said, if you want to vote early on the very first day, be prepared for a long wait. Early voters in Fairfax waited hours too. Was that “suppression”? The constant victimhood mentality is beyond exhausting.
Don't you understand that NOBODY should have to wait in hours to vote? THE WAITING IS SUPPRESSION. It is DESIGNED to make it harder to exercise your franchise. Why would you try to normalize it? Is it just this puritanical "we must suffer, if we don't it's not American" attitude? That is harmful, stupid, and wrong!

JUSK KIDDING.
Those are lines in VA. Are they suppressing the vote there too?????
Waiting 4 hours to vote in VA is awesome but waiting 4 hours to vote in GA is voter suppression?
I need the new liberal rule book.
In some parts of Virginia, people waited in line up to four hours to cast their ballots on the first day of early voting, according to the Washington Post.
The big picture: The COVID-19 pandemic seems to already have an impact on how people cast their votes this election season. As many as 80 million Americans are expected to vote early, by mail or in person, Tom Bonier, CEO of TargetSmart, a Democratic political data firm, told Axios in August.

Are you arguing that there should be lines to vote? This is evidence to move to all mail in ballots like western states with a month to return them. Too many people get to the polls without researching what’s on the ballot. VA has long constitutional amendments and Arlington has five bond issues.
No, I am saying that you people are acting like a bunch of Henny Pennys claiming "voter suppression" where there is none.
Lines were long in GA on the first day of early voting. The same damned thing happened in VA, but I recall everyone here talking about how great that was that people were getting out to vote.
What a bunch of hypocrites.
No, we all said the same thing there, too. It’s great to see the enthusiasm, it’s a travesty that people have to wait in lines like this. This is sad, third world sht.
Calm down everyone. My in laws voted early in person here in highly populated NOVA. They said it took them about 3 minutes. Yes, at some point in time on some day of the week there may be a line. Big deal. Come back the next day, or come back on Election Day, or mail in a vote. Lots of options. The important thing is to vote.
