Didn't stop.
Didn't report anything.
Somehow didn't know the difference between a man and a deer (hint, a deer causes A LOT more damage to a vehicle)

I haven’t hit either, but it just seems like you would see a person flying over your hood. A person doesn’t look like a deer.

Just because the GOP is so monumentally horrible lately, I would totally believe that he hit the person, knew it and lied.

He knew he was drunk. This was a "managed" response on his part. Just my opinion.

The whole thing has a certain Ted Kennedy ring to it.

(And this coming from a Dem)

I mean come on. If you hit a deer, would you call and report it to someone?? That was CLEARLY to cover his A*%

Report it to whom? I’ve hit deer before, only person I’ve reported it to is my insurance company. There’s no reason to report it to anyone. It’s like hitting a squirrel, you gonna report that too?

He knew what he did. So does God.

our courts need to extract justice.

Don't count on it. He's a MAGA Republican in MAGA Land. He'll get away with it. #lies #cheating #MAGA

The call to police, once home having gurgled half a gallon mouthwash, hour(s) after the accident, was a ploy to be able to defend against hit and run charge once a body was found the next day, i.e., "Why, no sir, I didn't 'hit and run,' I called it in (once I got home and de-drunk-ifiied). I honestly thought it was a deer, just listen to the 9-1-1-recording! p.s. I love 'Murica!"

People hit deer all the time. No one calls the f***ing police (although you will be going to a body shop in the next couple days.)

He knew what he did. He hit the guy and kept going. Gets home, starts gurgling mouthwash, and decides to put a time-stamped plausible-deniability marker down by calling the Sheriff's Office and, in his best heartland, good-citizen voice reports "Why sheriff, I do believe I hit a deer out yonder on Highway 12. It was real dark, y'see, so I cain be too sure, but I reckon it was a deer I hit and I thought I might oughta report it."

Translation: sleazy Republican liar, boozed up behind the wheel and hit and killed guy. Trying to bullshit his way out of it. MAGA-nation in action!

Yeah, I think the police only got involved in my rural/small town if the hit deer was wounded and suffering in city limits (only officers can use guns in town). It really, really beggars belief and speaks to a guilty conscience that he called.

Nah, he was drunk.

Drunk drivers drive toward light sources, especially on dark roads. It’s one of the signs of drunk driving. He drove toward the light.

You are correct. It's called target fixation. It's the reason they passed move over laws. Drunks are constantly hitting police, firefighters, and tow truck drivers by the side of the road.

I agree he was probably drunk.

What a nightmare for the deceased. Your car stalls or whatever, you pull over, go home, get a light to fix the problem enough to drive it home and someone either not paying attention or under the influence hits you at speed. If the person who hits you stops and checks to see who they hit and you’re not totally unconscious, you’re aware of this. Or you come to during the night, cold and in extreme pain. And you die out there. Absolutely horrifying.

Now why do I sense this AG would be throwing the fcking book at anyone else? I’m glad at least that NoDak and Wyoming bureaus of investigation did the investigating.
