Yeah, it's where a city resident wprotesting against the far right agitators was murdered by an out of towner white supremacist. Be glad it hasn't in your home town, douche bag.

Anonymous wrote:MD has layered taxes. In addition to MD state taxes, you will pay sizable county taxes and on top of these some areas have additional local taxes depending on where you choose to live. Areas of Rockville, Silver Spring and Takoma Park all have additional taxes. Make sure to run everything through a tax calculator. If you are lower income the tax situation in MD is not bad at all but if your are upper income it is terrible.
Montgomery County was in a dire economic situation before COVID. PG or Howard would be safer from a financial perspective.

(I can't speak to other parts of the Rt 1 corridor because I don't go that often but I am sure that it is also fine)

Their income taxes are also higher than Virginia's. Also, Virginia has some of the best public schools in the country and great public universities. Just be sure to weigh the cons as well as pros. But you know your circumstances best. Best of luck!!
This person is an idiot.
You have the University of Maryland, Johns Hopkins, St John’s and the Naval Academy
After that it is a string of public and private schools for underachievers

It does seem like private school might be required. Realtors in PG don't even bother most of the time to note the school assignments and the web pages for some of the schools, such as Northwestern HS, emphasize that the school has large and growing ESOL and FARMS populations, while not featuring the school's course catalogs. In addition, many will feature communications from the school principals that are full of grammar and syntax errors. It's almost anti-marketing for those who'd want their kids to get a good education.
MoCo (non Silver Spring) resident here so I don't have a dog in this fight but your statement about realtors in PG not bothering to put in school assignments in their listing is false. Just open up any PG listing and you can see for yourself that school assignments are listed there. Next, why would they post the web page of the school in their listing? I've never seen that practice before. Also, there is a course catalog on the PG county school web site: https://www.pgcps.org/courses-and-programs-of-study/. Courses are usually listed at the county level because the courses are available at all schools for the most part. Finally, you really don't get to talk about grammar errors when you yourself can't write a comprehensible post. What are you saying now about Northwestern High School's emphasis on it's growing ESOL and FARMS population?

What is it you think "great means"
It's all cheap for a reason, and far from great.
Sayeth the racists who have never been there (or not been there recently). College Park/University Park look very much like the Midwestern college town I grew up in - there are beautiful historic homes, good coffee shops. quirky stores, and parts are very walkable. It hasn't been cheap for some time. Hyattsville and Mt. Rainier have a Takoma Park feel with a more affordable price point. Artists, gay couples, and millennial families are buying there in droves. Finally, Greenbelt is frequently picked as one of the best cities to live in in the entire country. It's very diverse. Very good public services. Walkable. Green. Small town feel. There are a lot of racists who write nasty posts any time any one mentions a great house or an event in PG county. If it's not a McMansion in a light and bright NoVa neighborhood it's ugly or unsafe or full of crime. It's noted (and disgusting).
Nah, it’s just cheap with a lot of aging housing that hasn’t been maintained, plus the public schools are so bad real estate agents don’t even bother to include them on the listings because the agents know they only further discourage people from wanting to live there.
Yikes these racist trolls keep coming out from under their rocks. Must be the same people that the forced the creation of the separate PG schools topic. Yuck!
Where did the PP mention anything about race? You're the one who brought race into it.
you're not that clueless, are you?
I guess I am. Please explain how disliking PG county makes someone racist. PG vs. Moco - more crime, less educated adult population, worse schools. Why exactly should I pretend to like that and what does it have to do with race?
Anonymous wrote:My commute will be so much better, and I can get more house for the money. So Silver Spring, College Park, or Hyattsville? I like the idea of a college town (I went to UVA and loved Charlottesville) but I have no idea if College Park is like Cville. I want family friendly and safe.
