Any man who refuses to do this is insecure and selfish. Women deal with birth and the impact to their bodies and a man can't handle a 5 min procedure? Sorry OP, your DH is awful. So just tell him condoms or abstinence only from here on out. I cna't beleive how many women excuse this behavior from their partners.

We had two kids...did not want more. Went in and got it done. Snip, snip (and a little burning smell, which I did not like too much, but was numb). Probably an hour from soup to nuts as they say. Better than making her continue taking the pill after talking about possible consequences for long term use. Never talked about her having her tubes tied. If he is committed to you and doesn't want more than you and your family, no problem. (I did not read all the pages in between so not sure if this conversation went in other directions).

If your pregnancies were so life-threatening, why not choose a permanent option then?

Tubal ligations can have serious side effects. Why do you think only women should be responsible for family planning?

Because only women get pregnant.

Women aren't creating babies by themselves. It takes two.
