This is a summary of an episode of “Leave it to Beaver”, which aired in 1958. And the advice is the same now as it was then.

Ward is jealous when the boys want to play at the Dennison house so he installs a basketball hoop on the garage. The boys and their friends play basketball until Ward joins them, delivering criticisms and comments on how to play like a pro. The boys leave. At the country club, Mr. Dennison tells Ward he doesn't interfere with the boys' play, because he learned his lesson with his oldest son. Later, Ward tells June the secret of being close to your children is to stay away from them.
